The Clean Up Day (Foundation Launch Exercise)

This launch project marked the beginning of the Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie Foundation (OBAK) through a large-scale community clean-up at the Nsawam Coach and Taxi Station — one of the busiest transport hubs in the area. The initiative focused on clearing waste, unclogging long-blocked gutters, and improving sanitation in partnership with station leaders, Zoomlion Waste Management, and local environmental authorities.

The project also extended to the Adamu Katakyie community, where residents joined to restore their surroundings and honour the leadership of Queen Mother Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie and Nana Adamu Katakyie III.

Project Outcome

Over 40 workers and volunteers mobilized.
Restored cleanliness and cleared long-standing drainage blockages at the main transport station.
Facilitated the first-ever joint meeting between station leaders, Zoomlion, and environmental heads to discuss sustainable sanitation solutions.
Provided meals, payment, and provisions to participants in appreciation of their contribution.
Successfully launched OBAK as a recognised community development foundation in Nsawam.

OBAK FEST (COMMUNITY CHILDREN & FAMILY FESTIVAL)

This community celebration marked a major milestone for the Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie Foundation (OBAK) through a large-scale children and family festival held at the Adamu Katakyie Palace, the home of Queen Mother Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie.

The festival was created to provide a safe, joyful, and inclusive environment for children from Adamu Katakyie, Nsawam, and surrounding communities. The palace grounds were transformed into a lively festival space filled with music, games, laughter, and shared experiences, welcoming a turnout far greater than expected.

Over 250 children attended and took part in a full day of activities including bouncy castles, face painting, inflatable football, archery, mini games with prizes, group dances, and a dance competition. Before the day ended, all children were provided with food and refreshments, followed by a meaningful message from the Queen Mother, reinforcing unity, care, and togetherness within the community.

Project Outcome

Over 250 children attended and participated in the festival.
Delivered a full day of safe, structured recreational and creative activities.
Successfully brought together children from Adamu Katakyie and Nsawam in a shared community space.
Provided food and refreshments to all children in attendance.
Created a strong sense of unity, joy, and community pride at the Adamu Katakyie Palace.
Strengthened OBAK’s role as a trusted foundation delivering impactful community programmes.

THE OBAK FOUNDATION FOOTBALL MATCH (COMMUNITY UNITY MATCH)

This community football match brought together OBAK FC, made up of local football talent from the Adamu Katakyie area, and OPAREKROM FC, representing the neighbouring town, in a highly anticipated fixture held at the Oparekrom Turf.

The match attracted a large turnout of men, women, and children from both communities and beyond, creating an electric atmosphere filled with passion, pride, and unity. The game was played at a high intensity and ended in a 3–1 victory for OBAK FC, but more importantly, it served as a powerful moment of connection between neighbouring communities through sport.

Showcased local football talent and youth development through sport.
Supported local businesses by purchasing refreshments from community shops.

MAKARANTA SCHOOL DONATIONS (EDUCATION & YOUTH SUPPORT)

The Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie Foundation (OBAK) carried out a school donation initiative supporting two Makaranta schools in Djankrom (Nsawam) and the Adamu Katakyie area, providing essential educational materials and sports equipment to support learning and child development.

At the Makaranta in Djankrom, the Foundation, alongside Queen Mother Ohemaa Bea Adamu Katakyie, met with school leaders and students to donate a bulk supply of school materials including stationery, exercise books, mathematics and science books, as well as footballs, netballs, and volleyballs. A meaningful discussion was held to establish an ongoing relationship and offer continued support to the school.

The initiative continued at the Adamu Katakyie Makaranta, where students were warmly welcomed at the Adamu Katakyie Palace. In addition to donating educational supplies and sports equipment, food and refreshments were shared with the children. The students expressed their joy through songs performed in beautiful harmony for the Queen Mother. During the visit, OBAK pledged to cover the children’s school fees for the next five months, as well as explore support for school uniforms and food during school hours.
